The Society for Arts Gallery
Unzipped curated by Patrycja Wierzba, was a group show designed to examine the changes in artistic perception and the creative process caused by geographical displacement. It focused on the works of fourteen inspired, young Polish born artists who upon moving to United States became extensively open or perceptive to the ideas of their new culture and its existing art trends. This show included playful installations and creative expressions in painting, sculpture, photography and fashion. Unzipped clearly extended beyond the label Made in Poland, exemplifying the artists connection with the American trends and new ways of thinking. The show brought an exciting dialogue of color, texture and community by placing together in one room artists who worked in various mediums and represented different styles and techniques. The goal of Unzipped was to raise awareness of the talent of Polish born artists, both within the Polish and the American communities; as well to develop the concept into an annual event which would grow in scope and attendance. Participating artists included: Miroslaw Chudy, Dawid Czerniejewski, Malgorzata Czerniejewski, Magdalena Galecka, Renata Jaworska, Pawel Kupiec, Dariusz Labuzek, Andrzej Lawniczak, Magdalena Marczewska , Jolanta Izabela Pawlak, Agnieszka Podczaszy, AggaB Raya, Barbara Sawa, and Patrycja Wierzba, the curator of this exhibition.
